Competition for the dsg: volvo brings dual-clutch transmission

Koln, 16. January 2008 – volvo does it the wolfsburg: as the swedes ask now, there will be from the spring of the year 2008 the series c30, s40 and the combination v50 with a new double-clutch transmission. The unit called called "powershift" in collaboration with the transmission specialist.

Fast and more economical

The volvo switchbox offers six reticans and works with two wet running couplings. As design-related advantages of the dual-clutch transmission, volvo calls extremely fast shifts without tensile force interruption and a high efficiency as a conventional transducer machine. The swedes promise up to eight percent less consumption compared to a generous automatic.

Compared to the current dsg of vw, the powershift transmission should also be significantly higher torques. Thus, volvo can easily offer the new switchbox for the 2.0-liter turbo diesel with 136 hp and 320 newton meters. But up is still abundant air: according to volvo, the double-clutch transmission is designed for engines with up to 450 newton meters. At the ford group nut, there will also be powershift ubwigen from the spring of 2008. The first model should be the facelifted focus with the new automatic. However, the new switching option can not be ordered, but also the surcharges for powershift are not yet known.
